Zhangjiajie National Forest Park was recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Site in December 1992 for its unique quartze sandstone peak forest. It was listed on UNESCO world geoparks in February 2004. With an area of 4,810 ha, Zhangjiajie National Forest Park has more than 3,000 stone pillars. It comprises several scenic areas such as Yuanjiajie Scenic Area, Yangjiajie Scenic Area, Tianzi Mountain Nature Reserve, Suoxi Valley Nature Reserve, Huangshizhai Scenic Area and etc. The entrance ticket to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is validated for four consecutive days and tourists should spend at least two days to make a very thorough tour through the park.
